Flowers In Morning Light // Abundance

"The early photographer snaps the photo"

~well know Jennivian Proverb

I'm usually a early riser and I love it.
My favorite way to spend the time before 7:30 is by wandering around the backyard (often with my camera) savoring the warm sunlight, enjoying the incredible colors, and often just musing or reading my Bible.

This particular morning I didn't intend to take my camera with me, but then I saw that everything had blossomed and budded out seemingly overnight, so out it came.

While I was photographing the redbuds (these lovely purply/pink flower buds) I found myself again trying to get the right shot that fully conveys the abundance of the blossoms, the same with the spirea, and the grape hyacinths, each of which greatly abound in our yard. There is just so much beauty abounding right now, given from the Creator who so richly bestows us with these, and many other, blessings!
An even though I do enjoy these earthly blessings, still more I value the richness of His grace, mercy and love.

The passage from Ephesians 2:1-10 states this clearly:

"And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience--among whom we all once lived in and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved--and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. and this is not our own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."

Do you notice the adjectives Paul uses?
"Rich in mercy" "Great love" "Immeasurable riches" "Gift of God"...they all have to do with abundance, quantities so great they can scarcely be described with mere human words. (Though Paul does try!)
And for those who believe...all that is ours.
And, pretty as they are, even these flowers pale in comparison to that.

Have a Blessed Sunday!

God bless,
                         ~Jenny

  1. I love how you pointed out all the adjectives. I have read the verse a lot and I have never seen it put that way before. Your explanation was eye opening.
