Catherine // Portraits // Part 2

One of the first rules of photography: Shoot with the sun behind you, so that it lights up your subjects face and eyes. (Or petals/leaves/wings...etc)

If I had a penny for every time I purposely broke this rule- I could buy new camera.

I particularly love shooting into the sun, mostly for pure love of that magical backlighting effect . . .

Consequently, after taking a few shots around the yard . . .  I decided it was a splendid day to finish the photo-shoot with my sister . . .

Yep. It was one of those moments when I looked in the viewfinder and- just started squeaking: "Whoa! Yeah, that's gorgeous! Perfect! Don't move a muscle! You're going to love this!"

I've had ideas for some poses with books . . .

Doing some swinging . . .

Ahhhhh... who doesn't love an expanse of verdant leafy greens?

The photographer got a little distracted . . .

Right angle of light + yellow flowers = warm glow reflected onto her face!
Another set of photos to squeak about . . .

       God Bless!

  3. Oh man the light! It's beautiful:) She's such a wonderful posee (I'm not sure if that's a word but...) and I especially liked the photo in the middle where you edited it with the old-time photo (or sepia) effect. I REALLY love that:)
I actually really like all of them; the focusing was excellent, and the colors and lighting are. Just. Awesome.
I also feel inspired to do one last photoshoot with my sister:)

  4. Haha! Too bad you DIDN'T earn a penny for every time you broke that rule! It would've made buying your new camera a little easier, wouldn't it? =D (I loveee "backlit light" =P, too) These are so pretty. I love the last set of Catherine holding the flowers! Beautiful!

p.s. I'm sorry I didn't respond to your email before you published this! =( Whatever you ended up doing worked out great, though! So glad you figured something out. ;-)
